Lviv Mayor Leads Delegation to Taiwan to Deepen Taiwan–Ukraine Medical Cooperation
Since 2023, MacKay Memorial Hospital has conducted four medical missions to Ukraine, providing free medical services to thousands and actively promoting professional exchange in medical education. In September this year, six Ukrainian specialist physicians visited MacKay Memorial Hospital for a one-month exchange program focused on clinical skill sharing and professional development. The hospital has built a rich legacy of medical and public health cooperation with Ukraine, characterized by strong mutual friendship.


On the 28th, Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyy led a delegation to visit MacKay Memorial Hospital, further strengthening bilateral collaboration in healthcare and public health.
The delegation included Deputy Mayor Serhii Kiral, Director of Architecture and Spatial Development Anton Kolomieitsev, and Chief Surgeon of Lviv’s First Medical Union, Dr. Hnat Herych. The group was welcomed by Vice Superintendent Dr. Chien Ting-Kuo, along with Dr. David Tsai, Director of the International Medical Center, and Dr. Kuo Li-Kuo, Director of the Department of Critical Care Medicine.


In his welcome speech, Dr. Chien emphasized MacKay Memorial Hospital’s longstanding commitment to international medical cooperation and expressed hope that this exchange would further consolidate the friendship between Taiwan and Ukraine, laying the foundation for future collaboration. Mayor Sadovyy expressed gratitude for the continued support and medical aid provided by MacKay, noting that Taiwan’s expertise and technological sharing have greatly benefited Ukraine’s healthcare system. He also voiced hopes for deeper future collaboration and the continuation of this valuable friendship.
In addition to learning about MacKay’s medical achievements, innovations, and international public health collaborations, the visit also included in-depth discussions on healthcare capacity building and medical education. The delegation toured key hospital departments such as the cardiac catheterization lab and emergency department to observe Taiwan’s critical care operations and clinical workflows. The visiting delegates highly praised MacKay’s expertise in critical and emergency care, expressing a strong desire to bring MacKay’s experience back to Ukraine for local implementation and to benefit more Ukrainian citizens.
